DESPITE opposition from the P Boxing Federation of India, Super Boxing League organ-I isers announced yesterday " that the inaugural edition of I the event will be held from | July 7 to August 12 in New 9 Delhi.
"It's a professional league and we are open for everyone. We don't have to get anyone's approval," said owner-promoter Bill
Dosanjh, when asked about BFI's opposition to the League.
The Indian boxing body withdrew its support for the event after preliminary talks failed. "We are affiliated to
World Boxing Council and Amir Khan's academy has enough boxing talent. We also have a lot of NRI fighters in London, America and Canada," added Dosanjh.
The event will feature eight franchises ? Mumbai Assassins, Delhi Gladiators, Haryana Warriors, Sher-E-Punjab, UP Terminators, North East Tigers, Maratha Yoddhas and Southern Super Kings fighting for the top prize of ^4 crore
Each team will comprise six players ? five men and one woman ? and will will have a maximum of three foreigners, with six back-up players per side. The second edition of the event will be held in Mumbai.
